Customers have voted The Co‑operative Bank the best NZ bank for home loans for the fourth year running.

The Co‑operative Bank has been named #1 yet again in the Canstar Most Satisfied Customers | Home Loans Award for 2023 – adding to its back-to-back wins for the award since 2020.

Chief Executive Mark Wilkshire says The Co‑operative Bank is pleased to take out the top award again, most importantly because the award is decided by customers.

“We are delighted that customers have voted us number one again. As a home-grown co-operative that is owned by its customers, we are committed to putting customers first and consistently providing the best possible customer service – and awards like these show we’re delivering on that promise.”

The Canstar Award complements The Co‑operative Bank’s #1 spot in the 2023 Consumer NZ People’s Choice Award, for the second year running.

Wilkshire thanked customers for putting The Co‑operative Bank first and said The Co‑operative Bank remains driven to help its customers bank better.

“To us banking better means that our customers don’t have to choose between great customer service and value; they get both. As well as being voted first for customer service, our home loan rates are often lower than the main banks. Over the past year, our one-year fixed home loan rate has been the lowest amongst New Zealand’s main banks for 46 weeks out of 52.*”

The Canstar Most Satisfied Customers | Home Loans Award is decided on the feedback Canstar receives from hundreds of everyday New Zealanders.

This year Canstar surveyed 1265 New Zealanders with home loans and asked each to rate their lender across seven categories: overall satisfaction, application and loan settlement, communication, customer service, interest rate, loan flexibility, and value for money.

What types of home loans does The Co‑operative Bank offer?

The Co‑operative Bank offers the following home loans:

Fixed Rate Home Loan

Comes with the certainty of knowing exactly how much your repayments will be, for a fixed period of time. Plus you can make extra repayments each year of your fixed term of up to 5% of the balance, without added fees, to help clear your mortgage faster and pay less interest.

Floating Home Loan

Offers the flexibility to make extra repayments or pay the loan off in full whenever you like without incurring early repayment fees. Go full floating, or pair your floating rate home loan with a portion on a fixed or revolving credit home loan for added flexibility.

Revolving Credit Home Loan

A transaction account and loan all in one. Your loan becomes an everyday account – with your money flowing in and out of it. Interest is charged based on what you’ve used of the limit each day. By accumulating all your cash in this account, you could keep your balance as low as possible – saving you interest costs.

First Home Buyers

The Co‑operative Bank offers a special low rate for first home buyers, on new lending from $200,000. A minimum 20% equity is required. And the offer is also available for Kainga Ora First Home Loans. With Kainga Ora, borrowers may be able to get a first home loan with a 10% deposit.
