For customers who may require emergency financial assistance, we are available on 0800 554 554 between 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 4pm over the weekend.
We partner with IAG New Zealand Limited (IAG) to provide you with tailored insurance products. As the insurers, IAG are responsible for managing your policies, handling claims, and offering insurance support.
The IAG team are there to support you every step of the way and aim to make the claims process as simple as possible.

Claims checklist
To help the IAG team process your claim as quickly as possible, please provide the following information.
Home insurance claims
- What damage or loss has occurred
- Details about what caused it or how it happened
- When it happened
- Steps you’ve taken to prevent further damage, if applicable
Note: If you experience loss or damage affecting both your home and contents, even if they are under the same policy number, you will need to submit two separate claims: one for the home and one for the contents.
Contents insurance claims
- What damage or loss has occurred
- When, where and how it happened
- Steps you’ve taken to prevent further damage, if applicable
- For items you’re making a claim on, they’ll need to know:
- value of the items. If valuable items are taken such as jewellery or artwork, up-to-date valuations may be needed
- if there’s any finance on the item/s
- age of the item/s
- approximately when and where you bought the item/s
Car insurance claims
- What damage or loss has occurred
- When, where and how it happened
- The drivers licence numbers and contact details of any other people involved
- If the vehicle is safe to drive

Next steps
Once you’ve lodged your claim, the IAG claims team will review all the information as quickly as possible and contact you within two business days.
If your policy requires you to pay an excess, they’ll typically ask you to pay the excess directly to the agreed repairer or supplier.
Managing your insurance online
You can manage your insurance(s) online using your IAG insurance hub, available through our mobile app and internet banking. You can:
- get a quote or buy insurance
- update your sums insured, excess amount, and add or remove optional benefits
- make a premium payment or change your payment plan
- view and download your insurance documents
Life & living policy claims
How to make a claim
To make a claim call 0800 554 554. Monday to Friday 8am - 7pm. Weekends 9am - 4pm.
You will need:
- Call us on 0800 554 554 or visit us in a branch
- Have your policy number handy – we’ll let you know what else is needed
- We’ll finalise your claim quickly once we get all relevant information. Any amount payable will be paid to the policy owner(s) or to your estate.
