NZ-wide maintenance: 24-25 October 2026
Due to industry-wide scheduled maintenance, payments sent from one NZ bank to another will be delayed between 10.45pm this Saturday 24th October and 12.00pm Sunday 25th October. These will be processed from 12.00pm on Sunday. Payments between Co‑operative Bank accounts and those to BNZ accounts are unaffected.
The Board has three permanent working committees to assist the Board on four specific areas of focus – the Audit, Risk, Technology and People and Culture committees. Each committee has a charter approved by the Board and is chaired by an independent Director. All Directors may attend Board Committee meetings.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee assists the Board in its oversight of financial reporting, internal controls and internal audit. Our external auditor is invited to attend all meetings. The Audit Committee comprises Keiran Horne (Chair), Brett Sutton, and Kim Gordon.
Risk Committee
The Risk Committee assists the Board with its responsibility to oversee the effectiveness and integrity of the risk management framework and risk reporting within the Bank’s approved strategic direction and risk appetite. The Risk Committee currently consists of David Smol (Chair), Brett Sutton, Helen van Orton, Keiran Horne, Kim Gordon and Nick Astwick.
People and Culture Committee
The People and Culture Committee assists the Board in its responsibility to oversee the effectiveness and integrity of people and culture strategies and policies. It oversees the appointment, remuneration and performance of senior management. The committee comprises Helen van Orton (Chair), David Smol and Nick Astwick.

The Technology Committee assists the Board in its responsibility to oversee the technology-related investments, operations, strategies and plans, providing assurance on their alignment with the overall strategy and plan. The committee comprises Kim Gordon (Chair), Helen van Orton, Keiran Horne, and an independent member Peter Muggleston.
