Many people struggle with saving money… and not just for large goals like a house deposit or retirement. Saving a few hundred dollars for unexpected bills or a rainy day could make all the difference.
We heard from customers that having the ability to hide a savings account from themselves would be a great help. We listened and added this to our mobile app.
How it works
- Log in to the app, go to Menu>Settings, then Hide Savings Account
- Select the qualifying savings account from view.
- The hidden savings account will disappear from the account list on the Home screen, and we will show a small message reminding you that an account is hidden
Things to know
- The hidden account won't appear in the list of accounts that fund transfers can be made from; but will appear in the list of accounts that can be transferred to, with the balance of the account hidden.
- This means you can still make funds transfers or even Automatic Payments into the hidden savings account, but you are unable to see the balance unless, you go back into the app settings and “unhide” the account.
- The hidden account will still be visible in internet banking.
Making it safe
To hide a savings account, it must have a balance of $20 or more, belong to you only, have no linked card and not be selected for Quick access. When an account breaks any of these eligibility rules, it will become visible again.
