Our beta testing programme

The Co‑operative Bank’s Beta testing Programme gives you access to pre-release digital product features and services. Your feedback from using these experiences will help us identify potential issues, fix them, and make your banking experience even better.

It’s important to note that as you’ll be using products and services that have not yet been publicly released, they may not function as well as those that have been part of a normal app update. There may be small functionality errors or inaccuracies, however these will not effect your day-to-day banking needs or security with us.

Use the sign-up link and fill in our survey, we’ll add you to the system and email you a link where you can download the beta version of the app. At this time, the beta is only available on Android.

The Android app comes with a feedback link which can be opened from ‘Menu > Beta’ in the app. If you experience any issues or something doesn’t work as expected, you can tell us about it straight away.

The Co‑operative Bank Beta Programme is open to any of our customers who accept the Co-op Beta Programme Agreement during the sign-up process. If you are a customer of the Bank then just sign up using this form and we’ll send you the links to download the beta version of the app. If you do not bank with us yet we'd love you to open an account, once you’re on board, then just fill out the form and we’ll send you the link to the beta version of the app.

No! Both our banking app and the beta version of the app are free to use. Normal fees associated with specific bank products and services may still apply.

This program is voluntary, and there is no compensation for your participation as a mobile beta tester (except for the chance to collaborate with our awesome digital team!) However, we do run 1-1 paid user testing sessions every now and then. As a beta tester, we’ll offer this opportunity to you first so you’ll get first dibs on the chance to be paid for your feedback! These 1-1 sessions range in length and compensation amount, but usually run for an hour compensated with a $50 grocery store voucher.

Yes, the public beta is Co-op’s confidential information. Please don’t blog, tweet, post screenshots, or publicly share information about the beta products and services to others who are not also in Co-op’s Beta Programme. If The Co‑operative Bank has publicly disclosed technical information about the beta, it is no longer considered confidential and you’re more than welcome to share it further if you wish.

We will use the email address you supplied on the sign up form to keep in touch with you. This may be different from your customer contact details because we need a Google compatible email address to activate the beta on the Play Store. If you need to update this email address just contact us at design@co-operativebank.co.nz.

Yes! The Co‑operative Bank will not release digital products or services to a public beta before extensive internal testing has taken place. Beta testing is the last step before commercial release and its purpose is to test usability and customer opinions, not security or core banking functionality.

You can leave the mobile beta at any time via the Co-op app page on the Play Store. This page will have a link to leave the programme. After that you will need to uninstall and reinstall the app to get the normal version. If you want to leave the beta programme entirely, which includes opting out of user testing offers and other betas we may offer programme, you’ll need to email design@co-operativebank.co.nz. (Information on how to contact us will be available to beta users under menu > beta programme in the app).
