The Co‑operative Bank promises to reimburse any direct losses you incur through unauthorised transactions on your Co‑operative Bank accounts in the unlikely event you are the victim of internet banking fraud ‑ as long as you have followed the simple precautions listed below and have not contributed to the loss through your actions.

We strongly recommend you:

  • install anti‑virus software and have it regularly updating on your computer;
  • change your passwords regularly;
  • do not use internet banking on public computers such as internet cafes.

You must:

  • regularly download updates to your operating system software including mobile devices;
  • not write your password down (it may be stored in an encrypted password application);
  • take care when entering your password or PIN to ensure no one else can see it;never log in to internet banking via a link from an email ‑ including if the email looks like it's from us;
  • call us immediately 0800 554 554 if you suspect unauthorised access or believe your passwords have been compromised.

You must not:

  • have acted fraudulently;
  • choose a password or PIN that would be easy to guess or discover;
  • tell anyone else your password or PIN;
  • respond to any request for your password or PIN no matter how official the request may seem;
  • use a computer or network you know to be unsafe; or
  • leave your computer unattended while logged in to internet banking.
