How it works
All Fair Rate Credit Card and Debit Mastercard cards are automatically enrolled in Mastercard® ID Check.
When you make a purchase at some online retailers you may see an extra screen pop up while your payment is being processed. This could be because it’s a high-value purchase or one we think is unusual for you.
We’ll then send you a One-Time Passcode via SMS or email. (If you don’t have a registered mobile number, the passcode will be sent to the registered email address we have for you).
That’s why it’s important we have your current contact details. If we can’t send the One-Time Passcode to you, the purchase can’t be approved.
Enter this One-Time Passcode and we can then complete your transaction. It’s quick and easy and helps keeps you safe.
Please read these Terms and Conditions before using Mastercard® ID Check service.
How does this process protect me
When you correctly enter the One-Time Passcode during an online purchase you confirm that you are the authorised cardholder and your purchase continues. If the One-Time Passcode is answered incorrectly, the purchase will not go through.
What if I don’t receive a One-Time Passcode
Check the details on the screen of where the One-Time Passcode has been sent to, if this is not your mobile phone number or email address, you’ll need to update your details with us before re-attempting the transaction.
