Debit Mastercard

EFTPOS and ATMs

Your Debit Mastercard is accepted worldwide at any merchant or ATM that displays the Mastercard or Cirrus symbols. When you’re overseas, select Credit then enter your PIN or sign the receipt.

The funds for overseas transactions will come from yournominated default account.

Foreign Currency Transactions

When you use your Debit Mastercard® for transactions in a foreign currency, you’ll be charged a currency conversion commission.

The currency conversion commission is calculated based on the New Zealand dollar value of the foreign currency transaction.

Fair Rate Credit Card

Banks and merchants

Overseas, your Fair Rate Credit Card will be accepted by banks and merchants displaying the Mastercard symbol and at any electronic funds device displaying the Mastercard symbol.

Foreign currency conversion

Mastercard processes and converts into New Zealand Dollars, Cash Advances, purchases and/or charges made in foreign currencies at the rate(s) of exchange fixed by Mastercard.

Transactions made in United States and Australian Dollars are converted directly into New Zealand Dollar. Mastercard converts Transactions made in any other foreign currency into United States Dollars before converting them into New Zealand Dollars.

EFTPOS card

Our EFTPOS card can be used if to withdraw cash from ATMs displaying the Cirrus logo.

However, availability can be highly variable, so it's best not to rely solely on your EFTPOS card when traveling.

Tip: Check your card expiry date before you travel

Before you travel, check if your card is due to expire during your overseas travel period. If it is, you can apply for an early reissue.
